Post-Surgical Cryotherapy Tips
Post-surgical rehab is where cryotherapy can be genuinely useful—but only if it’s applied using some common sense and in coordination with the recovery plan provided by your surgeon. The goal isn’t just pain relief; it’s about controlling inflammation without slowing tissue healing or impacting the gradual improvements to flexibility and mobility throughout the recovery process . 🩺 Early Phase (0–2 Weeks Post-Surgery) Primary goal: reduce swelling + pain Use local icing

Pre Op Tip #1 - Bathroom
There are some changes you will need to make to your bathroom in order to prepare for your post op recovery. In my case, I have a small bathroom with a window. The first change I made was to remove the glass shower doors and replace them with a standard shower curtain setup. Second, I added an ADA Compliant Grab Bar. Since I have a window with a sill within the tub space that is easily reached, I didn't need to add any additional grab bars to support my needs. If you don't ha

Post Op Hip Tip #1- Footwear
For getting around the house during recovery, flip flops are the way to go. Easy to get on and off without the risk of strain while trying to put on or take off your regular footwear. I chose the Sketchers Relaxed Fit flip flops because they provide a bit more support and traction. In the end it just made it easier to get around especially during the first two weeks of my recovery. Please follow me on: Facebook: Recovery Zone Care | Facebook Instagram: https://www.instagram.c

Cryotherapy Tip #2 - TheraIce Products
One of the products I found most helpful during my recovery was the TheraIce Pro Pack. It's a multiuse ice pack wrap: TheraICE PROpack – Reusable Gel Ice Pack for Pain Relief This product comes in a variety of sizes. The cloth covering replaces the need for a separate barrier between the skin and ice pack. Plus, I found that it stays cold long enough to provide relief without the risk of over doing it. TheraIce also provides pull on Cold Compression Sleeves and Hot / Cold Com

Cryotherapy Tip #1 - Plastic Bottles
When it comes to treating and recovering from surgery and injuries, one of the things I've found most helpful over time was to reuse plastic water bottles by filling with water and freezing them. There are several benefits to this practice: 1) If you're using a Polar Products Active Ice setup, you can save a lot of money, time and mess. The frozen bottles tend to stay colder longer, you don't need to use as much water in the cooler and swapping them out is a piece of cake. 2)

Pain & Swelling - Part 1
Whether you've just undergone a surgical procedure or managed to injure yourself, pain and swelling are an experience we've all shared at least once in our lives. When it comes to treatment there are a lot of different options. In my case, I'm recovering from the replacement of my left hip, which does in fact produce a fair amount of pain and swelling. Aside from medications, I'm using cryotherapy options to treat both the swelling and the pain as recommended by my physician.

Yes, you will need help
Probably the biggest challenge I've faced so far is acknowledging that I need some help from time to time and the acceptance that I cannot do it all. While recovering from the replacement of my left hip, I've been reminded on several occasions just how difficult some tasks are to complete. The simple act of putting on socks, taking out the trash, washing clothes and dishes, preparing meals have now become Olympic class events for me. Honestly, everything is a bit more difficu

Hot or Cold?
When it comes to enhancing the recovery and healing process after workouts, injuries and surgery, is it better to use hot (Thermotherapy) or cold (Cryotherapy) therapy? It depends. First, one of the benefits of utilizing both Cryotherapy and Thermotherapy for recovery and healing purposes is that in its various forms, it’s a non-evasive, drug-free way to help relieve pain and swelling while promoting the recovery and healing processes. Before we dig deeper into this topic, he
